Born on 20 June 1958 in the village of Uparbeda, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, Smt. Droupadi Murmu belongs to the Santali tribal community. Her life is a remarkable testament to resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication to public service.
Educated at Rama Devi Women's College, Bhubaneswar, she built her early career as a teacher before entering public life — serving as a councillor, legislator, minister, and governor before ascending to the highest constitutional office in the land.
As the 15th President of India (2022–2027), she became the first person from a tribal community and only the second woman to hold this office. Her tenure was marked by an emphasis on constitutional values, rural empowerment, education, and India's diverse cultural heritage.
